FREE CONVERSATION
Description
What is FREE CONVERSATION?
Free Conversation was born as a free movement where people give themselves permission because they want to interact with other people without the barriers that we socially self-impose.
It is all about people who talk to other people without ever meeting before. This can happen on the street, on the beach, at organised events, during a trip, in an online conversation, etc. etc. In short, it is about accepting to share a conversation with another person without prejudice, not having a specific motive or argument, although in specific events the topics and other modalities can be constrained.
How did Free Conversation begin?
Free Conversation began spontaneously in different parts of the world where independent people decided to put 2 chairs somewhere in the city and give somebody the opportunity to sit down and talk about what he/she wants or needs to share at that moment. The other person can simply listen, share opinions, give advice if asked or, in other words, simply interact according to the criterion that guides them at the time.
How do we help people and organisations that want to join the Free Conversation movement?
The movement will support all individuals, professionals and companies who want to be part of it by offering them a huge variety of material and merchandising expressly designed to spread and grow the values that permeate the movement and by joining the promotion of the movement with that of the entity that collaborate (professional, company, organisation, etc.) By way of example, we name some of the materials that we have designed for the movement (this list does not intend to be complete, so new gadgets and tools will be incorporated over time):
•Tshirts
• business cards
• chairs
•small table
•suitcases
•handbags
•hats
•cups
•glasses
• towels
• swimsuits
•backpacks
• umbrella
• reusable shopping bags
• shopping cart
•bed sheets
• cushions
• pillows
• kites
• «Free Conversation Zone» adhesive tape
•etc.
What are «Free Conversation» events like and what is «Free Conversation &»?
The «Free Conversation» events are organised in public or private spaces where the people who sign up have the permission and the freedom to talk to other participants since we are all open to speak and listen according to the values of respect, confidentiality and freedom. We can synthesize in «Mood Free Conversation». In this type of event there are no restrictions on topics and modalities. The only limits will be any subject treated with fanaticism.
On the other hand, the «Free Conversation &» are specific events where there are some modes already predefined either by the type of location, by the duration of the conversation or by the chosen topic. This allows those who sign up to already have more information and can decide if they are interested in participating, knowing what can be found.
Let’s cite some examples:
• Free Conversation & Wine
• Free Conversation & Dinner
• Free Conversation & Beer
• Free Conversation & Coffee
• Free Conversation & Brunch
• Free Conversation & Pizza
• Free Conversation & Philosophy
• Free Conversation & Sport
• Free Conversation & Walking
• Free Conversation & Art
• Free Conversation & Nature
• Free Conversation & Love
• Free Conversation & Creativity
• Etc.
«Free Conversation» event categories
When we undertake any action or make a decision (perhaps automatically or unconsciously), all of us accept a risk, making an assessment, a balance of what we can gain and lose from said action / decision. Doing nothing or deciding nothing implies avoiding risks and opportunities too, that is, the balance of risk continues to work in the same way whether we want it to or not.
Free Conversation events do not get rid of the risk balance, so we have decided to help the participants by using some categories (HR-MR-LW) that will allow everyone to choose the event from a range of risk profiles.
We are going to explain each category in order to make the concept clear.
- Free Conversation HR (High Risk)
This is a typology where the participant signs up for an event where they share a dinner, a long trip or an event where there is no predefined topic of conversation (Free Conversation &) with somebody that you do not know and that you have not chosen so you face the risk that the (relatively long) time taken ends up in deep boredom or even a nightmare but at the same time this event can change your life forever because you may find the partner that you were looking for or maybe the love of your life. Anyway, the HR profile aims to «extreme» situations!!
- Free Conversation MR (Medium Risk)
The MR event implies spending a shorter time such as sharing a pizza or a «Free Conversation &» event where the topic of the conversation is predefined so that the participants have, at least, a shared interest in the topic of the conversation.
- Free Conversation LR (Low Risk)
LR events is the type of event chosen by those who are not completely convinced, perhaps because someone has invited them and that, at first, they would not have attended the event if it were not for this reason or they want to try before deciding whether to really sign up to the movement! In this case, it is an event where you share a coffee, a beer or a soft drink and you talk to more people and you only decide to continue with a meal when you find the person with whom you share a common match.
What values underpin the Free Conversation movement?
Why join a Free Conversation event?
The reasons that can induce us to participate in an FR event are multiple. Each one of us will have his/hers. Here are some of the ones that we have identified so far:
- vent your worries by talking to a stranger without fear of being judged;
- listen to a different point of view;
- seek advice from somebody who is not in our closest environment;
- make new friends;
- avoid loneliness;
- overcome shyness;
- curiosity;
- etc.
Don’t expect anything… but expect everything. If, for example, you end up leaving work, your partner, you change city, etc… it won’t be our fault!!
